19 wrz 2023 · The thoracic cavity communicates with the neck via the superior thoracic aperture and with the abdominal cavity via the inferior thoracic aperture through anatomical spaces piercing the diaphragm. Located inside each cavity and compartment are various organs, thoracic blood vessels, nerves, and lymph nodes:

The thoracic cavity is home to many vital organs, notably the lungs/pleurae and the heart, but also includes the thymus gland and the breasts. As the heart is found here, the great vessels associated with it are also found – including the pulmonary arteries/veins, the superior vena cava and the aorta (as well as some of its proximal branches).
28 kwi 2017 · The thoracic cavity is actually composed of three spaces each lined with mesothelium, a special film-like tissue that separates vital organs. The pleural cavities surround the lungs, while the pericardial cavity surrounds and protects the heart.
20 lut 2023 · Your thoracic cavity contains five organs: Esophagus (food tube). Heart. Lungs. Thymus. Trachea (windpipe). Anatomy. Where is the thoracic cavity located? Your thoracic cavity is located in your chest. It’s enclosed by the bones and muscles that make up your chest wall.
The organs of the thorax include the thymus gland, the breasts, the heart, the lungs, the tracheobronchial tree and the pleurae. The thymus gland is located in the superior mediastinum of the thoracic cavity but may also extend into the neck. It is classified as a lymphoid organ, meaning that it plays a role in the development of the immune system.
The thoracic cavity (or chest cavity) is the chamber of the body of vertebrates that is protected by the thoracic wall (rib cage and associated skin, muscle, and fascia). The central compartment of the thoracic cavity is the mediastinum.
6 sty 2024 · The lungs lie either side of the mediastinum, within the thoracic cavity. Each lung is surrounded by a pleural cavity, which is formed by the visceral and parietal pleura . They are suspended from the mediastinum by the lung root – a collection of structures entering and leaving the lungs.
