11 wrz 2023 · Muscles which arise from the femur will cross the knee joint to insert on the proximal tibia promote flexion and extension around the knee. The tables below summarize the thigh muscles and their points of origin or insertion with respect to the femur.
8 lis 2021 · The femur, commonly known as the thigh bone or thighbone, is the longest, strongest, and heaviest bone in the human body. The name of the bone is derived from the Latin word ‘femur‘, meaning ‘thigh’. It is the only bone present in the thigh region, extending from the hip to the knee.
Like any other region of the body, the deep fascia is surrounded by superficial fascia and skin. The deep fascia sends in intermuscular septa, which attach to the femur and divide the thigh into three compartments: anterior, medial, and posterior compartments.
Muscles in the Anterior Compartment of the Thigh.
The anterior region of thigh (a.k.a. the anterior femoral region) corresponds to the front compartment of the thigh. The thigh is divided into three compartments or regions: anterior, medial, and posterior. These compartments are formed by the intermuscular septa that extend inward from the deep fascia and attach to the femur shaft.
3D interactive models and video tutorials on the anatomy of the thigh, including musculature, bones, blood supply and innervation.
15 paź 2023 · The muscles of the anterior compartment of the thigh are a group of muscles that (mostly) act to extend the lower limb at the knee joint. They are collectively innervated by the femoral nerve (L2-L4), and recieve arterial supply from the femoral artery.
