കോലത്തുനാട്ടിലെ അനുഷ്ഠാന കലാരൂപമാണ് തെയ്യം. കാവുകളിലും കോട്ടങ്ങളിലും തറവാട്ടുമുറ്റങ്ങളിലുമാണ് തെയ്യക്കോലങ്ങള്‍ കെട്ടി ആടുന്നത്. തുലാമാസം പത്തു മുതല്‍ ജൂണ്‍ അവസാനം വരെയാണ് തെയ്യക്കാലം. മനുഷ്യന്‍ ദേവതാരൂപം ധരിച്ച് ഉറഞ്ഞു തുള്ളുകയും അതിലൂടെ ദേവതയെ പ്രീതിപ്പെടുത്തുകയും തിരിച്ചു ദേവത സമൂഹത്തിന് ഐശ്വര്യവും സമാധാനവും നല്‍കുന്ന വിശ്വാസപ്രക്രിയയാണ് തെയ്യം.
