The Awakening (2011) [Haunting] Movie Review. Yeah, this movie was pretty good. Oddly sexual for a movie about a paranormal investigator at a boys academy. I can compare the atmosphere and stylization to The Others, without the lame twist ending.
With its focus on a post-World War I, female paranormal investigator, searching for a boarding school-bound specter, the film takes a novel approach to recognizable haunted house conventions. The production is solid but never flashy.

It's not the most original story, but the execution is fantastic and I just love the gloomy atmosphere. Rebecca Hall is great in this one, as usual for her! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a bit lighter fare horror. 10. Reply.
