Thanos is a lone wolf tragic hero. Even with the gauntlet, he's proven that he's not very smart in regards to how to best utilize the gems. Darkseid on the other hand is a multiversal cosmic god. Unless Thanos is willing to destroy the concept of evil and tyranny, then he's unable to kill Darkseid.

Darkseid is stronger and faster and has better and more versatile powers and abilities. Thanos could win in a fight against Darkseid only with Infinity Gauntlet.
