Chulalongkorn[a] (20 September 1853 – 23 October 1910), posthumously honoured as King Chulalongkorn the Great, [b] was the fifth king of Siam from the Chakri dynasty, titled Rama V. Chulalongkorn was born as the son of Mongkut, the fourth king of Siam.

Prince Yinglot’s faction opposed King Chulalongkorn’s reforms until his death in 1885 when the king abolished the rank and appointed his son Crown Prince. The king had married four of his half-sisters born to King Mongkut and various consorts and concubines.
