The major problem is that beyond being a decent Tetris player, I largely don't know the ins-and-outs of 99, and play without a fully formed strategy. Help and/or advice based on any of these questions would be appreciated:
As others note, multiplayer VS is a very different game than single player tetris. Techniques like downstacking, T-spins, and four wide dominate high level play. In Tetris 99, clever targeting is also important.

T99 opinions and questions. Hey all! Made the purchase for the free Tetris99 for 10 euros. (Big Block DLC) For the offline play. I'm not into online tetris battles:) Bought for the Marathon mode specifically and being able to play offline. It's good but far from perfect.
