14 paź 2020 · L/d Max for gliding flight and l/d max for powered level flight are different angles of attack. The difference is the drag curves. A gliding aircraft has less lift than a level one. Similarly, a windmilling prop has different drag characteristics than a thrust-producing prop.

No they are different. Gliding for endurance, maximum time in the air, is at minimum sink rate, which is usually close to stall because it's where maximum lift is being generated. In a glider this is the speed you thermal at.
