Trail maps are available by region or by North or South Island. We update our maps each year in August so it’s best to wait until then if you plan to print these.

29 cze 2024 · The South Island leg of the Te Araroa trail begins at Ship Cove (the northernmost point of the Queen Charlotte Track) and makes its way 1,300km south to Stirling Point in Bluff. Start with 4-5 days cove-hopping on the Queen Charlotte Track before heading inland down the Pelorus River.

The Te Araroa is one of the world’s newest long-distance hiking trails, opening on December 3rd, 2011 and takes on average a whopping four to six months to walk in its entirety.

Te Araroa is New Zealand’s premier long-distance hiking trail, stretching 3000 km (1860 mi) across the country’s two main islands. The trail travels from Cape Reinga on the North Island to Bluff on the South Island. It passes through 9 distinct regions on its way.
