I’ve been using TextNow free service on my second phone for work purposes for about six months while I work from home. I’m using it on an iPhone SE and paid $10 for the SIM card. I’m able to use the phone on Wifi of course no problem, and receive notifications of emails, while not on WiFi.
Here are the pros/ cons I found with the service. Pros: *no data - For a person who wants to spend less time on phone, this is a great feature, you don't have data. Makes the phone like a feature phone with great camera, and music. *international travel - far and away the best feature for me, was the ability to have a north American number abroad.
