22 mar 2024 · Taco Bueno’s first go in Houston lasted from 1979-1988 and culminated with five locations throughout the city and only one in a suburb (Katy). This first go-around was all company-owned outlets, and to Taco Bueno’s credit, they had spent almost ten years at a few locations before pulling the plug.
20 mar 2024 · Taco Bueno was founded in Abilene, Texas, in 1967 by Bill R. Waugh, an art graduate from Abilene Christian University. With his brother as a partner, the two began selling Mexican food with a Texas twist that became popular thanks to fresh ingredients and innovative recipes.

2 mar 2020 · Back in April of 2019 Taco Bueno announced their intent to repurpose the building. For those unaware, Taco Bueno is a mid size quick service “Tex-Mex” style restaurant. Take that categorization with a grain of salt, as their menu somewhat resembles Taco Bell’s.
4 lip 2020 · Right across I-10 from the former Steak’n Shake is where Taco Bueno has decided reentered the Houston market. As previously mentioned this is the second go around for Taco Bueno in Houston. In the 1980s the chain opened a small number of locations around Houston.
My experience traveling outside of Houston was that Taco Bueno and Del Taco were a big step down from Taco Bell's already low quality.
