The Seer is the twelfth studio album by the American experimental rock band Swans. It was released by Young God Records on August 28, 2012. Producer and front man Michael Gira funded the recording of the album with the sales of the live double album We Rose from Your Bed with the Sun in Our Head (2012).

It features a painting of a dog, presumably a Yorkshire Terrier, a small breed of canine that is small in stature and originally bred to kill rats in the clothing mills of England.

17 kwi 2014 · The songs The Seer, Ave. B Blues, Avatar, and The Apostate were developed organically as a group in rehearsals and on tour. They morphed constantly throughout the last series of Swans tours, and were captured and lovingly adorned in the studio.

22 maj 2019 · That cover art has stuck in my brain like a knife, and I have always wanted to listen to what exactly this album had in store for me as soon as I could. It's such an evil image, and I was over the moon to finally be confronted with the sheer power of The Seer.
