The Wali (Guardian) in Marriage: Role & Responsibilities. Islam stipulates that in order to conclude her marriage, a Muslim woman should have a guardian or wali, who is usually her father.
6 gru 1998 · Conditions of the wali are as follows: He should be of sound mind, an adult, free (not a slave), of the same religion as the bride, of good character, be male, be wise and mature.
(1) باب التَّحْرِيضِ عَلَى النِّكَاحِ. ‘Alqamah said “I was going with ‘Abd Allaah bin Mas’ud at Mina where ‘Uthman met him and desired to have a talk with him in privacy”. When ‘Abd Allaah (bin Mas’ud) thought there was no need of privacy, he said to me “Come, ‘Alqamah So I came (to him)”.
