16 paź 2018 · After we explore these great exemplar texts in early October, I then begin teaching mini-lessons on three different techniques for creating suspense in a piece of writing. One great way to develop suspenseful or scary images in a story is through sensory details.
It then asks students to highlight and label where and how suspense is created. Then students write down what their thoughts and questions are as a reader before being asked to write the next paragraph of the story. It gives helpful features that create suspense as suggestions for them to use.
