Coordinates: 10°19′S 109°58′E. The Sunda Trench, earlier known as and sometimes still indicated as the Java Trench, [1] is an oceanic trench located in the Indian Ocean near Sumatra, formed where the Australian - Capricorn plates subduct under a part of the Eurasian Plate.
1 paź 2019 · The Java Trench, also known as the Sunda Trench, is located south and west of the islands of Java and Sumatra in the eastern Indian Ocean, and is in excess of 3200 km in length. The trench is formed as the Indo-Australian Plate subducts beneath the Eurasian Plate, at a rate of between 60 and 73 mm per year (De Mets et al., 2010).
1 gru 2014 · Structural map of the major ridges and basins of South Sundaland from SE Borneo to Eastern Java and Flores basins. The region of East Java–Madura–Kanggean south of the Meratus Mountains and Bawean Arch (Figure 5, Figure 6), includes the Java basins and continental ridges (Ketapang High/North Madura ridge).
13 maj 2016 · The Philippine Sea plate is the largest of the collage of plates and marginal basins that occupy the complex boundary zone between the three major plates that converge in East Asia: the Pacific, Indo-Australian, and Eurasian/Sundaland plates (Figures 1 and 2).
The Sunda Plate (also known as the Sundaland Block) is surrounded in every direction by tectonically active convergent boundaries, below which are subducting: the Phillippine Sea Plate to the East, and the Indo-Australian Plate to the South.
Abstract: The paper discusses the geomorphology of the Sunda Trench, an oceanic trench located in the eastern Indian Ocean along the Sumatra and Java Islands of the Indonesian archipelago.
