subTerrain publishes original fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, essays, and commentary three times a year. Submissions must be previously unpublished material. (Note maximum number of submissions per issue below.) Feel free to interpret our themes in unique and unusual ways. All other regular submission guidelines still apply, as below.
The very short answer is K. J. Finished the novel and decided we were the right place for it, and wrote a book that could kick off a series for Orbit. (I've read the first two books in the series, and I suspect we're looking at more than a trilogy here.

Established in 1995, the company produces luxurious specialty and limited editions, issuing approximately 45 titles annually.
The short and largely unhelpful answer is that their value is whatever one buyer is willing to pay for them. With rare books such as these with limited visibility of prior sales, it really does just take one motivated buyer to disrupt the market and pay above any true value.
Subterranean is best known for publishing genre fiction, primarily horror, suspense and dark mystery, fantasy, and science fiction. I’ve defended and recommended Subterranean Press both here in this sub and others in the past but I can no longer do that. This, in my opinion, is the absolute worst way to deal with this and I’m beyond disappointed with Bill and SubPress.
