31 sty 2018 · The shoulder bolts are designed to bottom out against the head when torqued to 4.7 ft. lbs. Tightening these shoulder bolts beyond this specified torque does nothing to compress the rubber gasket any further and potentially can shear the 6mm thread.

16 lut 2024 · I took it in to a shop and they let me know it was likely a bad valve cover gasket. The shop quoted me $800 to fix it, which from what I've heard is pretty excessive. Is that a repair I could do myself?
23 kwi 2009 · I used new gaskets and bolt seals on my valve covers and they both leaked excessively. I then removed them and degreased and cleaned everything and used subaru grey sealant to supplement the rubber seals.... works about 95% but still leaks on the exhaust manifold and driveway.
Valve cover gaskets help ensure the seal between the cylinder head and valve cover is tight. Due to the high temperatures the gaskets endure, they will likely crack over time, which could lead to the gasket leaking and causing oil leaks in the process.
