He compared the hairline to middle of knee measurement with their height, and he deemed it to be accurate on all his horses within the 14.1hh to 15.3hh range. Then, he did the same procedure on his foals and discovered it to be very close to what he anticipated they would mature to.
28 paź 2011 · String test was absolutely exact on both my mares - believe it or not. Both were very small for their age (I got them as yearlings), so I wasn't sure they gonna make it "horse size", but string gave 14'3 on one and 15'2 on other.
And what method do you use? Looked at a 4 year old colt last night. He was a stud colt running on pasture until this past June. Cute little dude - but emphasis on the little. He’s between 14.2-14.3 right now. We found a version of the string test measuring from ergot to elbow and doubling it - that had him finishing at 15.1 or so. That would be perfect really. 25 lut 2019 · From what I've read, the string test was thought to be the most accurate, but now I'm seeing two different types of string test. I had read about the string test measuring from the front of the cornet band up to the center of the knee, the resulting inches being the adult hand height.
