14 mar 2019 · 1. Searching the web yields plenty of results for Get/Set-Service, wmic and sc and plenty of GUI options with msconfig and Task Manager itself, but I need to setup an unattended install of a Windows machine, and therefore need to disable these startup programs via command line.
Specify @reboot for a job, and it will be launched by cron upon system start. Something similar applies to your shell configuration files .bash_profile etc., that can launch processes in the background as soon as you open Terminal.
16 kwi 2023 · Your Mac, by default, will reopen all windows after you restart. Disabling this is the best first step to having fewer applications start at boot.
28 maj 2019 · So I want to quit a background process which after I quit it in the activity monitor which boots up again, my goal is to stop it from running (Like in windows you can disable programs from starting at all). Also can I stop said program from terminal too?
6 sty 2011 · You could right click on your Terminal Icon when on Dock, Select Options > Open at login. I have an auto-login VPN script for work. I need to open Terminal too when working. So I prefer it automatically launches at startup and I used .bashrc to run my vpn script automatically.
