28 lis 2009 · The 290 Farm Boss is a work horse of a saw. It's not a pro saw, not the most high tech, not the most powerful, and not the lightest. But it's well built and gets the job done, smartly, at a decent price point.

4 lip 2010 · In reality, the new Stihl low kick back chains are very good and I can sharpen one to be just as fast as a standard RS or RM chain. The saws are capable of being setup for 3/8 chain. I do not see it as being optimal, they perform way better with the .325 chain.
29 lis 2022 · My Farm Boss is .029 (290/291), not 271. I purchased it in about 2000 and it's been a workhorse. I use an 18" bar and chain rather than the original 16" bar and chain and did so from the beginning.
261 is better than both. However, if I had to choose between the 271 and 291 I'd choose 291 as both are the same size and weight yet the 291 has more power. The 261 is lighter, yet more powerful than either and has better build to boot. I bought a 291 this summer and put it to work cutting down douglas fir and ponderosa for firewood.
Rebuilding clamshell saws is a bit more difficult, but they're not too horrible, in my opinion. I definitely prefer the pro series saws, but I won't turn down a farm and ranch/homeowner saw for the right price.
4 lis 2021 · The Stihl Farm Boss chainsaws are a popular choice for those wanting a high-powered homeowner chainsaw. The Stihl MS271 Farm Boss is the most common model, but there are other chainsaws in the Farm Boss range. Some are no longer in production, like the 041 Farm Boss, but many can be bought today.
28 gru 2005 · The 041 Farm Boss was a very popular saw in my area in it's day. I bought one new in 1976 when I got out of high school, I thought I could take on every tree in sight & I gave it one he11 of a try.
