30 kwi 2002 · He also won two state titles at Mt. Carmel High School and went on to win the National Junior College Athletic Association wrestling championship at Iowa Central Community College. He coached for two years at the college level and last year returned to the Harvey Twisters as a coach.
His brother T.J., younger by three years, took home four state titles from 1993 to 1996 and lost just three matches while wrestling for Mt. Carmel. Oldest brother Steve’s two state titles give the Williams family a total of 10, which has to be a record.

Led by Hall of Fame coach Bill Weick, the Caravan brought home the first wrestling team state championship in school history. Junior Bo O'Rouke pinned his opponent in the final match to secure the title. That year the Caravan were led by Steve and Joe Williams, Tim Combes, Mike Barcena, Jeff Chevaliar, Mike Lamantia, O'Rouke and Jason Pero.
