A Step Aside Scramble is a type of golf tournament format in which a group of players compete as a team, with each player hitting a tee shot on every hole. After each tee shot, the team selects the best shot and the player who hit that shot “steps aside” and does not hit the next shot.

The player whose shot is selected steps aside for the next shot. All other players then play the next shot from the position of the selected ball, placing or dropping within one club length of the original ball’s position (and within six inches on the putting green), no nearer the hole.
Enter the Step Aside Scramble. In this model, the person hitting the best shot selected by the team must “step aside” for the next shot leaving their 3 teammates to make the next best shot. This is repeated for every shot until the ball is in the hole.
