4 maj 2020 · Word's formatting is based on XML, not HTML or CSS. Pasted tables are translated to Word format and Word's default setting "Automatically resize to fit contents" is applied. For a more consistent appearance in Word and HTML, create the tables in Word and export as HTML.
What I do is: paste the HTML into a text editor, save it as plain text in a file with extension name .html, and then open that file in any browser and copy the page or parts of it from the browser to Word.

Opening a HTML file that was saved directly from a browser is not pretty. lots of strange table formatting, but the content is still there. I tried: i) copy-and-paste the table from firefox to MS Word; and ii) open the html file using MS Word. Both give me table with distorted style.
