28 maj 2019 · Steelskin is a new defensive skill which is available very early in the game. It instantly hardens your skin, granting a damage barrier that absorbs 70% of all damage taken. It has a maximum amount of damage that it can absorb, which increases as the gem levels.
Steelskin has a short CD and short duration, meaning you can use it much more frequently than other guards. People bind it to left click, but I currently use it on right click with convocation on left click.
As part of changes to make early game combat more active, we're introducing the new Steelskin skill, and are changing Molten Shell and Immortal Call. So probably not intended to be that used by the top 0.01% of players that clear t16 maps in two minutes.

12 lip 2019 · I'd say Guard skills are in "debatable" state at the moment. I like the concept of short duration non-automated self-buff, it (theoretically) provides a playstyle that is directly opposite to the one forced by Winter Orb.
There currently are five guard skills: Molten Shell (and Vaal Molten Shell) Immortal Call. Steelskin. Arcane Cloak. Bone Armour (Necromancer only, basically Steelskin) The vast majority of players in SC and HC run Molten Shell / VMS, it is the best guard skill for most builds, typically more than doubling EHP.
