Level 20 cwdt requires 3.2k damage. Level 20 steelskin covers 2.2k damage at 70% mitigation, meaning you're taking up to 1k damage to life in that time. So as long as you have 4.2k life or more, L20 cwdt with steelskin is perfectly fine.

It's easy enough to pop down SB before doing anything and just gives you so much free damage. Lastly, I think Arcanist Brand is undervalued. You can do things like Arcanist Brand + Flammability + Wave of Conviction + Combustion for fire attack builds like Cyclone Chieftain.
