2 lut 2019 · Currently it seems to be still working, and support at this point only means, that new features are not necessarily made compatible with XP and Vista. If you want to be a bit on the safe side, this guide contains download links to previous Steam versions as well as a way to prevent updates.
1 sty 2019 · Valve is still working on the new UI and updates. Those use features that are not supported in Vista. Chances are Steam will not work on Vista after they are released, but for now, it still works.
1 maj 2019 · It's not very hard, as you only need to download THIS archive, and then extract it, and you will have a working steam. On Windows XP at least you'll need to use ProxHTTPSProxy or a similar solution if you want to get game pictures/icons to load.
On vista I have the archived version of steam that is compatible. When I try to run it I'm getting gldriverquery64.exe stopped working. I've read up and it sounds like I need a C++ redistributable installed. I've installed several different versions but still no luck.
Starting on January 1 2019, Steam will officially stop supporting the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems. This means that after that date the Steam Client will no longer run on those versions of Windows.
If you're working with Steam Support, they may also ask you to provide more information or perform tests that can narrow down the cause of the issue. You can always download the latest version of the Steam client application directly from Steam.
