Equinor ASA (formerly Statoil and StatoilHydro) is a Norwegian state-owned multinational energy company headquartered in Stavanger, Norway. It is primarily a petroleum company operating in 36 countries with additional investments in renewable energy.
Equinor, formerly known as Statoil, is a key player in the Norwegian petroleum industry. Founded in 1972 by the Norwegian government, our original purpose was to manage the country’s vast oil and gas resources.

9 lip 2022 · Statoil had roughly 2 000 European service stations in 2010, from 19 in Russia to more than 800 in Sweden. These became part of Alimentation Couche-Tard in 2012, and the business changed its name to Circle K in 2016. Explanations differed when Statoil sold its German and Irish marketing subsidiaries in 1997 and 2006 respectively.

I 1972 ble Den norske stats oljeselskap AS, Statoil, opprettet, og to år senere ble Statfjord-feltet funnet i Nordsjøen. I 1979 ble Statfjord-feltet satt i produksjon, og i 1981 ble Statoil det første norske selskapet som fikk operatøransvar for et felt, på Gullfaks i Nordsjøen.
