The State of Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) provides unemployment benefits to eligible workers who become unemployed or under-employed through no fault of their own and meet certain other eligibility requirements.
You may need to visit the Michigan Unemployment Office Locations when you lose your job. At these facilities, trained professionals can help you submit an unemployment claim. Workers at these offices can also help you determine if you are eligible to receive benefits.

Call 1-866-638-3993 to certify for unemployment benefit payments. Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Certification by phone is not available when UIA offices are closed for State holidays. Open by appointment only. Schedule an appointment to speak with a Customer Service Agent.
Customers can schedule an appointment online up to one week in advance at Michigan.gov/uia for the following issues: Phone appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. – 4:25 p.m. Each appointment is expected to take no more than 20 minutes.
