  2. As a State Employee you have the ability to view your own information in Workday. The SPS provides Human Resources*, Time and Payroll*, and Employee Benefits* services to State employees. Depending on your agency, institution, or type of employment, you will use the SPS for certain services.

  3. Employees of the State of Maryland typically work a forty-hour work week. Many State agencies offer their employees flexible work schedules. The Teleworking Program enables eligible state employees to work at home, at a satellite office, or at a Telework Center.

  4. If you participate in the States Employee Benefits Program, you can view your benefit elections and your dependent information in the system. If you have a qualifying Life Event and want to make a change to your benefit elections, you will log in to the SPS and initiate the change.

  6. Enrollment for benefits will be completed via the State of Maryland Employees Benefits Portal. You will not be able to enroll until you receive a series of emails from the State that will include your user name (known as a “W” number) and a temporary password.

  7. SPS Workday Benefits will provide all employees and retirees the ability to enroll, access and manage their benefits information from one unified online system. SPS Benefits will be part of Phase III of the SPS Project.
