26 lis 2024 · Susana A. Mendoza (Democrat) took office on Dec. 5, 2016, serving the last two years of her friend Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka's term. She was reelected in 2018 and 2022. Mendoza is the first Hispanic independently elected to statewide office in Illinois.
The Comptroller of Illinois is a constitutional officer in the executive branch of government of the U.S. state of Illinois. Ten individuals have held the office of Comptroller since the enactment of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, replacing the prior office of Auditor of Public Accounts that was first created in 1799.
The executive branch is composed of six elected officers and their offices, as well as numerous other departments. Illinois is one of 26 states that elect their governor on the same ticket as their lieutenant governor. The six elected officers are: Governor; Lieutenant Governor; Attorney General; Secretary of State; Comptroller; Treasurer

The Comptroller of the State of Illinois is the chief financial officer of the government of Illinois. The comptroller is an elected position selected by voters during the federal midterm elections (i.e. 2018, 2022, 2026 and 2030).
