I bought a 4TB external hd back when there was a lightning deal on Amazon. The good thing about external hd is that it only lets you save games/apps to it, so if it ever craps out, you can just buy another drive and re-download the games.
This is possible from a technical perspective, and I heard about it but we're unsure. And the internal bottleneck will be the Port which is sata. I already got a ssd in my ps4 and its a bit faster but not worth the investment. It was a generell question if the ps4 makes any differences with USB Sticks or USB Drives (external).
Do not use a USB flash drive. They don’t have a lot of storage compared to hard drives and they’re MUCH more expensive. And yes it’s USB 3 compatible. In fact, the expanded storage feature requires any external storage option to be USB 3.
I would like to see it happen one day, but before that there have to be serious changes at Blizzard. I don't think a Starcraft 3 made by Blizzard right now could be good, not even mentioning that it wouldn't feel right to give money to Blizzard without huge internal changes.
If you have enough USB ports free on the PS4, then leaving an external hard drive connected is the cheapest and easiest option. 1tb external hard drive for $70 USD is overpriced. This is how I upgraded my drive to 2TB as well. Cheapest option.
You can download add-ons to extended storage, even if the related application is installed on your PS4 console's system storage. Updates are downloaded to where their corresponding applications are installed.
