You may be able to get a game just searching in the Eros client during primetime, but your best bet by far would be to check out the chat channels in the evenings and on weekends. Come by and say hey. You can find and play on the Starbow maps in the Arcade even if you're on the free Starter Edition of the game — just search "Starbow".
After watching Starbow, the army and unit dancing in vanilla SC2 look more and more like synchronized swimmers each game. xD It's ridiculous, and the cheese and crap are just too much. I can hardly ladder anymore after the glory that is Starbow. Bless it.

Starbow is by far the most successful alternative to the official Starcraft II game and practically the only one that was looked at as viable for serious competition. I would highly recommend giving it a try!
