The “History of St. Austin’s Parish, 1908–1947” describes Mrs. Taylor’s efforts to build a Catholic church or chapel near the University of Texas. At that time, the only Catholic church in Austin was old St. Mary’s, a very small church at Brazos and 9 th Street in downtown Austin.
St. Austin Catholic Parish is located just north of downtown Austin, adjacent to the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Austin Parish, guided and served by the Paulist Fathers, is a dynamic, urban, Roman Catholic faith community of the Diocese of Austin.
St. Austin Catholic Church, Austin, TX. Founded by the Paulist Fathers in 1908, the first St. Austin’s Church opened December 25, 1908. 1 lip 2024 · To continue their long-running and thriving work, in 2016 parishioners heard a call to grow their mission upward — toward heaven. The result is a six-story building that houses parish offices and the school. The first-floor houses receptionists and meeting rooms for the parish and the school.
