Hi, I will be joining Micron SG this September. Given the corona situation and the vulnerability in the job market just wanted to connect with peeps facing the same situation. Also, It would be great if insiders can comment on the situation of Micron, such as layoffs, revoking the offers, etc.
One of the things I read about Micron is that the new CEO in 2018 (who a lot of people seem to like actually), introduced doing employee reviews on a bell curve. Meaning employees are compared to each other on their performance.
Job security, I’d say it is solid within this industry. Even if you get laid off (e.g: Micron earlier this year), you should have no problems getting hired in another semicon company as local talent is in relatively high demand in this industry.
I have been offered a bonded scholarship by Micron but I want to know the current work culture there compared to other companies such as Global Foundries or SSMC. Of course I also want to see how the pay discrepancy is as well as the general pay packages any advice would be great.
