21 mar 2013 · lhd.CreatedDate is a DateTime field and is non-nullable. I want to display an empty string if the field is the minimum date (1/1/1900), but my CASE statement doesn't work; CreatedDate displays 1900-01-01 00:00:00.000 in my query when that value is in the database. I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2.
19 sty 2001 · The solution is in-fact a workaround or a quick fix than a total solution, since a blank date can be either a NULL or 1900-01-01. However, converting the date into a string does relieve us from showing irrelevant data to our clients.
17 lis 2015 · You can't get an empty string because you're returning the DATE value type from ISNULL. Per the docs, ISNULL. Returns the same type as check_expression. If a literal NULL is provided as check_expression, returns the datatype of the replacement_value.

11 mar 2020 · SQL FORMAT function is useful to convert the dates, time, number, currency in a specified format. We should use it when we require locale-aware changes only as it might cause performance issues. We should use the SQL CONVERT function for all other cases.
If you need it to be of the date data-type, there is a way around it, and this is to nest a REPLACE within an ISNULL, the following worked for me: Select ISNULL( REPLACE( [DATE COLUMN NAME], '1900-01-01', '' ), '') AS [MeaningfulAlias]
