Hidden for over 10,000 years, Inner Space Cavern is one of the best-preserved caves in Texas. It was discovered by a Texas Highway Department core drilling team in the spring of 1963 and was opened to the public in the summer of 1966.

Inner Space Cavern (Also known as Laubach Cave) is a karst cave located in Georgetown, Texas. The cavern was formed by water passing through Edwards limestone. The cavern is estimated to be around 20–25 million years old but were only open to the surface since the late Pleistocene period 14,000–45,000 years ago.
Inner Space Cavern will take you on a tour beneath the hot Texas surface, and take you where air condoning comes free. The deep caverns beneath the surface where Earth has created one of Austin’s most treasured attractions.

Inner Space Cavern is a large, complex cave with many beautiful formations and interesting displays of Pleistocene-age mammal bones. Known to paleontologists as Laubach Cave, Inner Space was discovered in 1963 when boreholes were drilled to test for a highway overpass on IH 35.

The Adventure Tour is our classic tour of the cavern. Your guide will lead you on a paved and lit trail to see our largest and most decorated rooms and formations. You’ll learn all about the history and discovery of our cavern during this 1 hour to 1 hour and 15-minute tour.
