6 wrz 2024 · South Sea pearls are saltwater pearls that grow in the Pinctada maxima oyster. This is the largest pearl-producing oyster in the world and at maturity can be as large as a dinner plate (up to 30 cm in diameter). Hence, South Sea pearls are larger than most other cultured pearls.
