4 paź 2024 · South African War, also called the Second Boer War or the Second War of Independence, war fought from October 11, 1899, to May 31, 1902, between Great Britain and the two Boer (Afrikaner) republics--the South African Republic (Transvaal) and the Orange Free State--resulting in British victory.
The South African War of 1899-1902 was essentially a “White Man’s” war, fought to determine which white authority had real power in South Africa but other populations groups like the Zulu, Xhosa, Swazis and Basotho and Sotho’s were also involved in the war.
