Sonoma County Women in Law (“SCWiL”) is awarding, with the help of a grant from the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, one Community Advocacy Scholarship (the “Scholarship”), in an amount of no less than $2,500 and up to $4,000, subject to future contributions by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.
FOR OVER FORTY YEARS, SONOMA COUNTY WOMEN IN LAW HAS BEEN COMMITTED TO PROMOTING THE EDUCATION AND ADVANCEMENT OF WOMEN IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE LAW. STARTING IN THE MID 1970'S, A GROUP OF PREDOMINANTLY FEMALE LAWYERS AND LAW STUDENTS BEGAN TO MEET FOR BROWN-BAG LUNCHES IN THE SONOMA COUNTY LAW LIBRARY.
A deserving law student at a northern California law school, with an interest in promoting women’s access to, and involvement in, the legal system, will receive this Sonoma County Women in Law (“SCWiL”) Honorable Gayle Guynup Scholarship to defray the cost of their legal education.
Sonoma County Women in Law. The purpose of this SCWiL Scholarship is to assist a deserving law student who has demonstrated involvement in and dedication to serving the community by providing financial support to defray the cost of their legal education.

Janessa McCune is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. Janessa is currently the Secretary of Sonoma County Women Law this year (2024) and has served on the Sonoma County Women in Law Board in varying positions since 2021.
