In Winter Semester 2022/23 the Master's Programme (formerly known in German under the name "Ethnologie") started in English as "Social and Cultural Anthropology" with NEW admission requirements.
The degree programme is divided into the following sections: a specialisation in basic cultural and social-anthropological theory (Module 1). An analysis of anthropology classics will be performed to view the relationship of these to current anthropological debates, theories, and methods.
The range of topics covered reaches from ritual and performance research to medical anthropology, from media anthropology to political ecology (environment), and from cultural identity to intercultural ethics. Further areas of focus include social structure, economy and trade, migration and urbanisation, and transculturalism.
