The event series “Designing Discourse Spaces" will take place at Goethe University from November 5 to 29, 2024, addressing racism and anti-Semitism. The program ranges from lectures and panel discussions on current topics to empowerment workshops for students who have experienced discrimination.
I will show that the history of anthropological engagement with development in Germany can be subdivided into three phases: from rejection by most chair holders (until about 1980), to a subfield of anthropology (since 1980) and to mainstreaming within the discipline (since about 2000).
