The Texas Simplified Application Project (TSAP) provides Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits to Texas households where all household members are either older adults (age 60 and older) or people with disabilities.
There are three eligibility tests for SNAP: the Gross Income, the Net Income, and the Asset tests. Depending on your state and whether your household has a member who is 60 or older or has a disability, your household may be exempt from the Gross Income, Net Income, and/or Asset tests.
Who is elderly? In SNAP, you are elderly if you are 60 years or older. Who is disabled? In SNAP, you are disabled if you meet ONE of the following criteria: You receive federal disability or blindness payments under the Social Security Act, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security disability or blindness payments. OR
Households in which all members are either older adults (age 60 and older) or people with disabilities are eligible to participate in the Texas Simplified Application Project (TSAP), which makes the SNAP application process easier and provides three years of benefits at a time instead of six months.
