Be 23 years of age or older on 1 January of the year of entry to the Undergraduate Medicine programme. Apply via the CAO by 1 February. Complete the required admissions test (HPAT-Ireland) in the year of entry to the programme. (Note that HPAT scores are valid for one year only, e.g. a 2025 HPAT score is valid for 2025 admission only.
Nursing/Midwifery (Prescribing) This accredited programme is delivered part-time/online over a six-month period. It prepares appropriately qualified nurses and midwives to prescribe medicines within their scope of practice.
The stages in becoming a Sister of Mercy are pre-candidacy, candidacy, novitiate, temporary profession and perpetual profession. Pre-Candidacy. On feeling drawn to this way of life, one contacts a Vocations Director (see Contacts) and one begins a journey of exploration through accompaniment and dialogue.
