The first thing to try is to repair the game. Open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon (Origin) or hover over the Sims 4 icon and click the three dots (EA App), and select Repair. If that doesn't help, clear the cache of whichever app you're using and try again.

1: Before starting your game, if you notice the little 'wrench' under the 'play' button (on Origin not 'in game') you can try right clicking that then 'repair game'. Hope this helps, Sasha

I'm a bit peeved, I'm having the exact same issue and have reinstalled origin, reinstalled Sims 4, gone through and repaired the game filed and made sure everything was up to date and I'm still having the same issues.
