Once you install it, it will add an additional speedup button in your game, right next to the regular speedup, play, and pause buttons. By clicking on the new button, your gameplay will instantly flow much faster until the moment you click on it again.
Things you can do in-game: Clear your notifications wall regularly. Limit the number of sims in your game in manage worlds (min is 80) and delete sims/households you don't want. Set it so that your mods list doesn't show up at start up (if you don't like waiting long to get into the game).
