If you are in the market for an outdoor security camera or they are a major factor in why you are purchasing SimpliSafe, I personally recommend that you get something else. In my opinion, the SimpliSafe Wireless Outdoor Camera is flawed due to both its design and engineering.

I bought outdoor cameras earlier this year when enrolling in the Outdoor Monitoring program and just got an email today, 6 months after that hefty purchase, that the cameras I bought will no longer be supported for the program come December. This is utterly unfathomable to me.
I have no experience with other brands of cameras, but with the Simplisafe outdoor camera set to 1080p, my license plate isn't very clear even when I'm parked on my driveway. It's expensive. Reducing false alerts take A LOT of trial and error. Setting zones and aiming the camera is tedious.
I just wanted to share my brief experience with these outdoor cams before anyone else has the displeasure of purchasing them. I paid $170 a piece for these cameras and bought 4 along with 1 solar charger, and two power cords (which I never used) and a base system for around $150ish.
