Spirituality is the practice of seeking purpose, meaning, and connection with forces greater than oneself. How does spirituality benefit us psychologically?
Spirituality can be defined generally as an individual's search for ultimate or sacred meaning, and purpose in life. [15] . Additionally it can mean to seek out or search for personal growth, religious experience, belief in a supernatural realm or afterlife, or to make sense of one's own "inner dimension". Spirituality involves the recognition of a feeling or sense or belief that there is something greater than myself, something more to being human than sensory experience, and that the greater whole of which we are part is cosmic or divine in nature.
There are many definitions of spirituality -- a holy longing, the art of making connections, heart knowledge, a way of being in the world, and a journey toward wholeness. All the religions have a spirituality, and it is also practiced by people unaffiliated with a religion.
