The tl;dr generic lore for most of the games, is that town Silent Hill is cursed. The "curse" I guess shows up differently depending on the person based on their inner demons/mental traumas/fears to give them their own unique hell.
I finally understand the symbolism behind *that scene* in Silent Hill 3... The bread represents the suppressed sexual desires of the silent hill sub prior to the announcements of the new titles. When bread is broken down into it's basic parts you get breadcrumbs.
I think the Silent Hill 1 novel was translated all the way up until Harry meets Dahlia, but was never finished. Silent Hill 3's novel was never translated to my knowledge.
