Algebra is one of the three main branches of mathematics in addition to geometry, mathematical analysis, number theory, permutations, and combinations. This science is concerned with the study of algebraic structures and symmetries between them, relationships and quantities.
It was written by the Persian mathematician Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī around 820 CE, and established Algebra as a new area of mathematics. In fact, the name algebra derived from the word al-ğabr in the title of the book. Al-Khwārizmī is often called the father of algebra.
The history of algebra is split into two basic kinds of algebra. One is called Classical Algebra (finding unknown numbers) and another is called Modern, or Abstract Algebra (studying rings, fields-space & time).
