The Curado 201B is an excellent reel in both fresh and light saltwater. I have used it extensively for surf stripers and it has performed flawlessly! Light, easy to palm, it will cast lures with ease and has the power to fight 10-15lb stripers in the surf with no problems.
3 maj 2013 · I was thinking the best way to fix it would be buy 2 boca replacement bearings for it (side plate bearing, spool shaft bearing), then send it to shimano to see if there is anything wrong with the pinion gear or anything else and that should come with a reel cleaning and service too.

7 kwi 2006 · Anyway, I have a Curado 3.8 to 1 gear ratio that I bought new about 2 years ago. I paid $139 or so plus taxes. I'd consider a trade for the same reel with higher gear ratio, or even to sell. I'd love to try a left handed reel. If anyone may be interested, please just post back.

21 lis 2012 · The old green curado CU200/201's are workhorses. The first reels that were made to outlast a professional fisherman. I have 4 CU201's and a 101 with way too many miles on them to even be expected to last. These are the "B" model, with the 5:1 gear ratio; they are my cranking/rattlebait/jerkbait reels.
I am wondering which one is better between the New Shimano Curados or the Abu Garcia SX. I have heard alot about the Curado's and the same with the SX but am having a hard time deciding which one to get????
